Position Overview
You will be expected to collaborate with your staff, to ensure that high quality experience is suitable for all our guests. Below is an overview of some of, not all, your responsibilities.
Partner with your team to maintain the operations of the hotel with an eye to continually improving all aspects of the operation.
Help design, sell and implement our membership programs.
Collaborate on the creation of appropriate schedules to adequately cover the needs of The Club Members and guests and to always ensure efficiency and cleanliness.
We use UKG to manage our payroll, and you will be trained in how to utilize the system for maximum efficiency, and it is up to you to become fully proficient in its use. You will be fully responsible for the payroll of the club. Payroll, being one of our largest expenses, must be always managed effectively. Payroll is due each Monday at our Corporate Office by 8:30 AM.
Develop processes to best utilize our Health Club, Spa, Studio and pools to satisfy our guests and the hotel Club Members, while managing the clubs budget. You will be asked to collaborate with Sharon on the creation of a business plan that allows for extreme variances in business due to the highly seasonal nature of the business on Nantucket. Cost control will be an area of great importance and your ability to control both labor and product costs will be strong factors determining your success.
We use RDP Software as our property management system, and you will be trained on the system and will be held accountable for learning all aspects of the program applicable to The Club.
Group Classes are a very important aspect of our Clubs success and represent a large financial outlay each week. You will be tasked with coming up with the ideal schedule of classes that fits the needs of our Members and Guests while always striving to keep the number of classes and the frequency of the classes adequate. As a goal, we would like
Position details and description
o Club staffing and covering any shifts where a staff member is out
o Managing club staff which involves mentoring and supporting them to ensure they are providing superior service to all members
o Creating and monitoring the daily cleaning tasks for the club and locker rooms leading by example. Cleaning should be done multiple times/day
o Ordering all club supplies and maintaining order in storage area
o Assist Club Director with Ocean Day Spa and Kids Club management as requested
o Processing all payroll / invoices on the date required by accounting
o Submitting all sales and attendance reports to senior leadership
o Tracking the members satisfaction with the club experience and proactively suggesting improvements to senior management
o Immediately escalating any club member issues to senior management and working to address it in the moment to the best of your ability ideally, no one should leave the building when they are unhappy without speaking to one of us first. All complaints need to be documented.
o Ensure all the equipment is in good working order and schedule repairs and standard maintenance as needed
o Place minimally intrusive/on brand signage and flyers in/around the club as needed to keep members informed on club schedules, events, and operational changes
o Send member timely emails to inform them of operational changes and schedules well in advance of events
o Audit the contact info of all club members to ensure accuracy
o Assist Sharon/hotel staff with any aspect of club operations, sales, staffing, cleaning, etc. as requested
Required skills
It is preferred that the candidate has CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Otherwise, we would have to send them to train when he/she arrives.
Must be fluent in English
Required experience
A bachelors degree in hotel/restaurant/hospitality management, OR
A post-secondary diploma/certificate in the field plus 3 years of experience.
Additional Information
401k, insurance, PTO (same percentages) 50/50 expenses for medical costs, manager meals are just when they are working, January incentives.
Not a lot of change in workforce in off season (no pool and kids club off season).
